The Dirty Dozen Hunting & Fishing Club Foundation has as its mission “To facilitate safe and responsible hunting and fishing experiences for members and youth participants, and to do so while instilling a sense of value, appreciation, and stewardship for the outdoors and general environment”. In addition to providing fishing and hunting experiences, adult volunteers and youth participants will have the opportunity to develop meaningful interpersonal relationships that may assist adolescents with overcoming difficult life challenges that lay ahead.
Growing trends both nationally and locally indicate that approximately 50% of all youth in the United States grow up in a single-family household usually headed by a female. In addition, there is decreasing rural land near urban cities where youth have the opportunity to experience outdoor recreational activities like hunting and fishing. Subsequently, there is an increasing need for adults to help youth reconnect with nature, land and water.
